“From ANATOLIA to The World”
2nd Geographical Indications Summit, which has been so far the most prestigious, precious and distinguished event about geographical indications in Turkey, will be held on 19th- 20th - 21st September 2019 at Ankara Chamber of Commerce Congresium International Convention & Exhibition Center in Ankara, Turkey.
This year’s theme of the Summit has been specified as “From Anatolia to the World’.
The primary aim of the Summit is to stimulate the potential of our country’s geographical indications by making contribution to the branding of the products which belong to the geography of Turkey, and through this way to enable our country to benefit from the international trade and achieve its rural development goals.
The objectives of the Summit are;
- To raise awareness regarding the economic, social and cultural yields of geographical indications,
- To share knowledge and experience to be in harmony with the world,
- To promote our country’s geographical indications at international level by bringing together producers/sellers along with the local, national and international buyers and to establish cooperation platforms for the commercialization of the local products,
- To create an infrastructure for the international organizations to be held in the future.
The International Geographical Indications Summit should not be considered only as a “Conference Program” or a “Fair”. The most significant difference of the Summit from the other organizations related to the agriculture or handicrafts is that it leads up to the promotion and commercialization of geographical indications while it provides an important learning platform in the field of geographical indications.
The Summit is the most convenient media for producers who are willing to commercialize their GIs or increase their market share. Conference Program, Training Camps, Geographical Indications Exhibition, B2B meetings and various events within the Summit offer many opportunities for the participants to learn more in the area of geographical indications, to understand recent developments, to create network and to develop commercial relations.
